BIG PRESIDENTIAL DREAM FOR SUPER EAGLES JONATHAN EAGLES WE..........
President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will have a victorious outing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup being hosted by Brazil.
The president, while reacting to the groups draw, which pitches Nigeria in Group F with Argentina, Iran and Bosnia told France 24 Radio in Paris at the weekend that he saw the Super Eagles springing surprises at the 2014 mundial. “I’m quite hopeful that Nigeria will do very well at the World Cup.”
“We have won the Olympic soccer gold before, we have won under-17 four times and we have been doing quite well in other age grade competitions. I believe and the world knows that Nigeria is a football nation, though we have not had the opportunity or luck of winning the World Cup, indeed no African country has won the world cup,” he said.
Jonathan said the team would perform well, particularly at the group stage and go ahead to win the trophy.
“Within the group that Nigeria will play, Argentina is a strong soccer nation, but Nigeria is also strong and I believe we will do well,” he said.
The Super Eagles, the reigning African champions are believed to be in an easy group in the preliminary stages of the tournament.
